Rules
The races shall be governed by:

In the event of a conflict, the Sailing Instructions will prevail. The Sailing Instructions may invoke rule changes as allowed for in Rule 86. DSA seasonal racing series are designated as Category 'A' Events, in accordance with Appendix G.

Eligibility
In order to be eligible to participate in DSA Sponsored Events, all skippers are required to complete, sign and submit a Registration/Hold Harmless Form for each calendar year.

SSRS Races conducted at DSA are open to all members of the club with a monohull or multihull listed in the Classes table of US Sailing's North American Portsmouth Yardstick or with a provisional rating established by the Race Committee chair. Monohulls and multihulls will have separate divisions

Guests: Any non-member sailor, with a sailboat listed in the Centerboard Classes table of US Sailing's annual North American Portsmouth Yardstick, may participate after completing and signing a Registration/Hold Harmless Form. Other center/daggerboard sailboats not listed in the Portsmouth Yardstick which wish to race shall be considered by the DSA Race Committee for eligibility. No guests are eligible to have their finish standings recorded in the DSA Racing Record, or to receive any trophy or other official recognition for their performance in the race. These privileges are reserved for club members. Special guest privileges will be extended to visiting yachtsmen who are members of other yacht or sailing clubs who have properly registered for DSA hosted regattas. Such guests are entitled to full recognition for placement and trophies as are otherwise reserved for DSA club members.

Race Validity:
Races shall only be considered valid if two (2) or more boats sailed by eligible members complete the course.

One Design Class Division
At the discretion of the Race Leader, as long as there are at least three (3) sailboats remaining under Portsmouth, three (3) or more sailboats of one design may race in a separate start as a class. If fewer than three (3) boats remain in Portsmouth the one-designers will start with the Portsmouthers (but may decide to score themselves as a class).

Registration
To register to race in the Series, each skipper must complete a Registration/Hold Harmless form, available from the Race Committee Chairman.

Registration Fees
There are no fees to enter races, but to be included in the DSA Racing Record, a skipper's DSA membership dues must be paid in full.

Late Entries
DSA welcomes late entries to the Series. Those wanting to be recorded officially in the DSA Racing Record, and eligible for prizes, if any,  must join the Club.

Courses
Course details will be given during each pre-race Skippers Meeting. In addition, all boats are to come within hail of the Race Leader prior to the start of each race for updates.

Scoring System
The Low-Point Averaged Scoring System, Apprendix A4 of the Racing Rules, will apply. In order to qualify for series trophies, a boat must be scored in at least 60% of the races completed in their division. For the purposes of this calculation, each race in which a skipper served as Race Officer (up to 3 races per series) shall be counted towards the 60% threshold. Finishing places and subsequent race scores will be based on elapsed times which will be corrected on a per race basis in accordance with the Portsmouth Yardstick using wind dependent handicap numbers and the Modification Factors in PY Table VI. All double-handed boats sailed single-handed will be penalized according to the modification factors in wind conditions up to and including Beaufort 3.

Sailing Instructions
Sailing Instructions are posted on this website.

Briefing
The briefing to each race of the Series will be given during the Skipper's Meeting by the Race Committee before the first warning signal of the day.

Prizes
Prizes, if any, will be awarded at the annual banquet by the DSA Race Committee depending on the number of entries.

Liability
Delta Sailing Association (DSA) its officers and representatives, will not accept any liability for loss, damage or injury to participating boats and their crew. Sailboat Racing is an inherently dangerous sport and owners and crew are reminded that at all times the responsibility for the safety of crew, the safety and safe handling of the boat and the decision to participate or to continue to sail/race must rest with the skipper.

By participating in the events covered by this notice of race, competitors agree to hold harmless the Delta Sailing Association and all DSA officers and representatives, as well as the owners/operators of the sailing venues, against any and all liabilities, damages, losses, expenses, claims or judgements that may arise as a result of their participation in DSA sponsored events. Skippers are strongly advised to ensure that their boats are adequately insured, at the very least against third party risks.

All skippers are required to sign a Registration Form each year, agreeing to the above Statements in order to be allowed to participate in DSA Sponsored Events.
